While organizations were experiencing an average growth in data volumes of 30% in 2009, the volume growth had risen to 40% by the end of 2010. Data volume growth is one thing, but organizations are also looking to integrate more complex data to help run their businesses.
Not surprisingly, most organizations (86%) current use structured data from internal sources. Structured data would include virtually anything that is sourced from a database system. With this foundation, this would include major applications used by many large and mid-sized enterprises today – Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM), for example.
